Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted Saturday that he received reports of attempted but “reportedly unsuccessful ICE enforcement actions in Sunset Park and Harlem.”
The mayor said in the tweet that those being targeted “have rights” and can call 311 and say “ActionNYC” for help.
News 12 reached out to Immigration and Customs Enforcement New York about the apparent raids but received a statement saying they were unable to confirm any enforcement operations and outlined the goals and subsequent mission of the agency.
News 12 also reached out to the Legal Aid Society who said, “We see this latest Trump attack for what it is: an attempt to resurrect his failed family separation policy from last summer and a re-election tactic to excite his base.”
The president had confirmed that Sunday would be the day ICE planned to target undocumented immigrants in major cities.
