Knicks player and Brooklyn native Taj Gibson paid a visit to his hometown in Fort Greene Saturday to host his sixth annual back-to-school basketball tournament.
Hundreds of parents and kids were gearing up for school next week with a friendly game of hoops. This year the event was for both boys and girls.
The tournament brought crowds of parent spectators as kids dribbled up and down the custom-built court. There was also food and free haircuts to help students look fresh for their first day of class.
Gibson tells News 12 that it's important to give back during the back-to-school season, which can be a huge burden for parents.
Over 300 bookbags were given out, one for each child who participated in Saturday's event.
