A Brooklyn woman was hit by a bullet that went through her second-story window.
Police say it happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday. They say the woman was at home when the bullet came in through her kitchen window and hit her.
Surveillance video of the aftermath shows police officers running into the building. Moments later, the 57-year-old victim was brought out of the apartment and taken to the hospital.
Police say she was shot in the chest but is expected to be OK.
"We have a group of individuals hanging out outside. We are speaking to some individuals as we speak… it does appear likely that there's gang involvement and everything that we have at this point appears that the individual that was shot which is very concerning was not involved in any way," said NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea.
Police say so far there have been no arrests.
They have not released the description of any suspects. The NYPD says this incident is under investigation.
