Places of worship around Long Island are practicing social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Church of the Intercessor in Malverne is offering curbside communion, where cars can drive up to receive it.

The church is also streaming its services online. The head of the church tells News 12 that practitioners can come to the church, but stand outside and watch the service.

Father Brett Crompton says that the church is practicing safety precautions, and that priests wear gloves while giving out communion.

The senior pastor says it's his religious duty to still serve the faithful, even if that means keeping his distance.

He says he will hold Sunday service this way as long as he's able to.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says anyone thinking of getting together with their families for the upcoming religious holidays of Easter and Passover should first think of New Rochelle.

He says large religious gatherings there played a major role in spreading coronavirus.
