Nearly 200 people teamed up to create face shields for front-line workers across nine states.
The Northeast Face Shield Project had a mission of producing and distributing 20,000 face shields within a month.
Regional director Adam Kaufman says 2,000 have already been disseminated across New York. About 500 were recently donated to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.
"We've been able to raise around $15,000 of our $25,000 goal. Each face shield that we produce, complete with its kit of three actual visors that go with it, costs us up to $2," he says.

He says state funding would help them create and deliver more, a process Sen. David Carlucci says can be very slow.
"The Empire State Development has been inundated with requests," says Carlucci. "It's a work in progress. That's really protocol that's been developed by the governor and his team. So, we don't really know exactly what protocol they're using."

He and Kaufman say donations will really be the driving force behind their work to protect workers on the front lines.
