Removal of barges stuck in West Haven planned for Sunday morning
The removal of two barges stuck in West Haven have been scheduled for Sunday morning after two efforts to remove them on Saturday were unsuccessful.
A salvage team attempted to pull the two barges from their location on Annawon Avenue at 8 a.m.
Officials say the lower-than-normal tide and heavy winds impacted the crews' ability to remove the barges.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the tide was similar at 8 p.m., which did not provide enough water for crews to pull the barges out of the area.
The U.S. Coast Guard says efforts are still underway, with the next attempt planned for Sunday at 8 a.m.
