A Bayport man was taken into custody Wednesday nearly a month before he was set to report to prison.
It's unclear why federal agents detained Robert Fehring sooner than scheduled.
Fehring was sentenced to a year and a half behind bars for mailing threatening letters to LGBTQ members and their supporters.
Some of the victims say the hate mail went on for years.
