We're Open: Lili and Cata Nail Salon
A nail salon in Greenpoint has adapted to the pandemic by offering manicures and pedicures outdoors.
Lili and Cata Nail Salon was only open for about eight months when they were forced to close their doors because of the pandemic.
"Back then we thought it would just be a couple of weeks, and then [it] ended up turning into four months,” says owner Jorge Rojas.
Jorge and Lilly Rojas say they are glad to be back open, feeling fortunate they have a backyard they had always planned to use. They're now doing their manicures and pedicures al fresco.
"It became more of a necessity than just a cute idea. And it's been very popular since,” says Rojas.
The business owners are no strangers to doing things a little differently. The location only offers waterless manicures and pedicures.
"It's just less chance of bacteria, less chance of infections, that's how nail fungus spreads that's how warts spread all of that yucky stuff because of water-born bacteria,” says Rojas.
They've taken precautions indoors as well, putting up shields between customers and nail technicians.
Lily and Cata Nail Salon also has a wine bar and cafe. The co-founders hope to give their customers a safe and relaxing environment for people to enjoy their "me time.”
