Hundreds of Brooklyn residents made their way down to the Brooklyn Paramount on Tuesday night to honor DJ Mister Cee.
Mister Cee was a Bed-Stuy native. He grew up in LaFayette Gardens. The 57-year-old was a host on "The Set it Off Show" on LL Cool J's Rock the Bells Radio before he died. Some of his friends told News 12 despite how well-known he was, his humility outweighed the fame.
Many of his fans told News 12 he lived a life full of music and always shared it with everyone he came into contact with.
"He represented the community, he kept it in the community, and he brought people out to have a good time so think about that, he played music, in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Jersey, everywhere, he played music to make people happy," said K.C., the Prince of Soul. "We are here to return that spirit and love that he gave us. We're here."
"Most of the time you mourn the death of somebody passing, but what we are doing right now here, and we thank Brooklyn for having us, is we're celebrating his life and his legacy." said King Sun, a close friend.
Mister Cee's friends also said that while this is a tremendous loss, his legacy will last forever.
