Twelve wounded military veterans competed in the first day of the Triumph Games at Prospect Park Tuesday in hopes of winning a $100,000 prize.
The 12 men and women were chosen out of 100 others to compete in the first ever Triumph Games. The competitors completed challenges, which include cycling, kayaking and a rifle competition.
In order to qualify, each of them had to serve honorably in the military, suffer a catastrophic injury and send in a video essay among other things.
Many of the competitors have received previous medals and honors.
Organizers say they wanted to shed some positive light on the amazing things veterans are doing.
