Fourteen alleged members of the Latin Kings gang in Bushwick and East New York were arrested in connection with a series of attacks.
Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson says the suspects allegedly took part in vicious attacks over the past two years that left four people maimed for life. Prosecutors say the suspects stabbed and nearly scalped an alleged rival in Park Slope and three others were shot or stabbed in Queens and Bushwick. Prosecutors say the alleged leader made videos of gang members showing off weapons used in the attacks.
All 14 suspects were indicted on assault and kidnapping charges. The accused gang leader was held without bail. The rest of the suspects will be back in court on Jan. 19. If convicted, the suspects face up to 25 years in prison on the top count.
Thompson says 10 of the suspects were arrested Wednesday while the other four were already behind bars, charged in connection with another beating in Brooklyn last month.
