Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in Soundview that has left two pedestrians in critical condition early this morning.
According to Luis Arenas, the manager of a nearby IHOP, a man and a woman in their 20s were crossing Bruckner Boulevard near White Plains Road shortly before 6 a.m. when they were struck by a silver or white luxury SUV that was trying to beat the yellow light.
An eyewitness says the victims were pushed by the car for over five yards, leaving in their wake clothes and shoes.
"The impact was so bad the man was stripped from the waist down," says Angel Ramos.
Both victims were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition.
Police say so far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information on the driver of the SUV is being asked to call 718-217-3529.
