A 22-year-old Bronx man is claiming self-defense after killing an alleged home intruder in Parkchester.
According to sources close to the investigation, a 23-year-old tried to get into an apartment at 1553 Unionport Rd. at around 1 a.m. Friday. People inside the home say that when the 22-year-old answered the door, he was shot in the leg.
Officials say the young man grabbed a knife and stabbed the person at the door in the chest before gaining control of his gun and fatally shooting him. The 22-year-old is recovering in the hospital.
Police say marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were found inside the apartment and the investigation remains ongoing.
