A 25-year-old woman has died after being struck by a van while trying to cross the street, and police are now on the hunt for the driver.

According to witnesses, the van ran a red light before hitting Guana Ghalley, who was coming out of a local bodega at the corner of University Avenue and West 190th Street. Officials say the van did not stop while Ghalley went into cardiac arrest and died at the scene.

Ghalley's family said she had recently moved to The Bronx, looking to start a better life.
