4 honored as BK Heroes of the Month
Two police officers and a couple who raised money for several charities were named Heroes of the Month by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams Thursday night.
In February 2014, officers James Li and Randy Chow were pursuing two men for skipping a bus fare. Li was shot in the leg before Chow apprehended the shooter with the help of backup. They were awarded for their bravery in the line of fire.
A couple from Bath Beach used their Carvel franchise location to raise money for several charities including the Red Cross and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They were awarded for their altruism.
They also give away nearly 5,000 ice cream cones every year to people in their community who can't afford it.
All four were honored by Adams at Borough Hall.
