A 6-year-old boy died after being struck by an SUV Friday afternoon.
The boy and his 26-year-old mother were caught in the middle of a two-car collision at East 95th Street and Kings Highway.
Witnesses say a silver SUV ran a red light going northbound on East 95th Street and crashed into a burgundy SUV coming across Kings Highway on the border line of Brownsville and East Flatbush. The two vehicles spun out of control after the collision, jumping the curb and hitting the mother and her young son, who were standing on the median.
Witnesses say the child lay motionless with severe head injuries after the crash.
The mother was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Two of the passengers were also taken to Kings County Hospital. One of the drivers involved in the accident was taken to Brookdale Hospital.
