A fire at a two-family house in Wakefield this afternoon displaced nine residents, officials say.
The blaze started around 12:30 pm on East 217th Street. Fire officials say the flames broke out in a bedroom on the second floor. Everyone inside the home had already evacuated when firefighters got to the scene, fire officials say.
Six firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
One of the fire trucks responding to the blaze crashed into a mini van full of people. News 12 The Bronx's cameras captured the accident.
Officials on the scene said several children were involved in the crash and were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Their identities and current conditions were not available.
