Advocates, elected officials and family members are calling for justice in the 2019 death of 32-year-old Kawaski Trawick. They are calling on Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban to reject the recommendation not to punish the officers who tased and killed Trawick.

Earlier this week, the NYPD's deputy commissioner recommended that officers Brendan Thompson and Herbert Davis shouldn't be punished for their 2019 actions. 

The recommendation came after an internal NYPD trial and investigation, following the death of Kawaski Trawick.Video of the 2019 incident was caught on the officers' body cameras. It shows Trawick being tased and then fatally shot in his kitchen. According to investigators, Trawick called 911 after he was locked out of his apartment. Advocates say the officers need to be held accountable. The NYPD tells News 12 the disciplinary process remains ongoing for the officers.The Trawick family attorney says they're demanding a meeting with Mayor Eric Adams before a final decision is made about the officers. News 12 reached out to the mayor's office who referred us back to the NYPD and said that the decision was specifically made by the police commissioner.
