Police say it happened around 11:20 a.m. Monday.
The 22-year-old was involved in a dispute with an unknown male when the suspect discharged his firearm.
News 12 was told that the victim was taken to Wyckoff Medical Center and expected to survive.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
