Thanks to a quick-thinking employee, an alleged dognapping from a Windsor Terrace animal shelter was foiled two days before Christmas.
According to Sean Casey, the shelter's owner, a woman posing as a customer took off with a puppy named Scuffy when he left to get paperwork. Scott Berliner, who was on his lunch break, says he noticed her drive off without purchasing supplies for the dog. Finding it suspicious, he took down the car's license plate number and the police were contacted.
Scuffy was found by the police and recovered by Casey, who declined to press charges against the woman. The 2-year-old puppy is back at the shelter, still up for adoption.
