Amid President Donald Trump's positive COVID-19 diagnosis, and as more cases of the virus emerge on Capitol Hill, there are questions as to whether or not more people will adhere to mask-wearing and social distancing.

The CDC says that wearing masks has helped slow the spread of coronavirus.

Some people say that they hope Trump's diagnosis will make people want to wear masks more.

Medical professionals say they hope this is a wake-up call.

"People are starting to get lax and hopefully this will encourage people to be more vigilant and help reduce the risk for people and their loved ones," says Dr. Fred Davis, with the Emergency Medicine Department at Northwell Health.

Davis adds that while New York has done fairly well with mask usage, he says it's more important than ever to wear them as flu season arrives.
