Could you forgive a person that wronged you? Many might say no, but a Bay Ridge business owner has decided to go against the grain.

After Abdul Elenani's business, Cocoa Grinder on Third Avenue, was robbed overnight of $2,800, the store owner decided to forgive the thieves, posting a sign outside promoting peace.

"I just wanted to send a message to that robber, to that specific person, where if you ever need something, don't just go break into places, rather just ask or try to get a job," Elenani said.

Neighbors say they admire Elenani's attitude.

"I think the sign is a unique approach to an unfortunate occurrence in our community and I think it's great that someone is taking a new positive approach rather than the usual," said Bay Ridge resident Mark Francis.
