A street in Bedford-Stuyvesant was renamed Saturday for Dr. Jerry Burns, the late pastor who served the community from the Open Door Church for 36 years.
A stretch of Greene Avenue will now be known as Reverend Dr. Jerry Burns Way.
The street name unveiling was the culmination of a jam-packed morning program celebrating the pastor's life and success.
"He let [the community] know that even though you're down, you still can get back up again," his son-in-law told News 12 Brooklyn.
Those that knew the pastor called the street renaming appropriate, saying that it's a proper and lasting memorial.
