Bed-Stuy tenants call for investigation into landlord
Breevoort Houses tenants in Bedford-Stuyvesant claim they've been harassed by their landlord and are calling for a NYCHA investigation.
Resident Valencia Curtis says her house was raided in 2013 after her housing manager created a false report claiming she had drugs in her apartment. She says no drugs were found and she won a civil lawsuit against the city.
Other residents at 234 Ralph Avenue say the housing manager retired last week and that NYCHA officials have been protecting her for years.
"NYCHA will not privatize public housing or displace residents," a NYCHA spokesperson tells News 12. "Our number one priority is preserving public housing for this generation and the next. We are committed to working with residents, the community and all levels of government to keep people in their homes while improving quality of life."
Community leaders say they are planning to send letters to the U.S. Attorney General's Office and the Brooklyn district attorney to call for an investigation into NYCHA evictions.
