Concerned Belmont parents are collecting signatures demanding that the Department of Transportation (DOT) take steps to increase safety at a dangerous intersection in their neighborhood.
Area residents want a stop sign or street light installed at 188th Street and Bathgate Avenue, where students at Lady of Mount Carmel are forced to weave through traffic daily. They say one child has already been hit.
Parents say they've already reached out to the DOT and were told it could take up to 12 weeks to get a response after a formal request is submitted detailing the problem.
