A beloved nursery school in Brooklyn is closing its doors after more than four decades.
Officials at the Warbasse Nursery School in Coney Island say the building manager has asked them to leave so the building can be renovated.
School officials say the building manager wants them out in order to repair damages sustained during Superstorm Sandy.
Currently, school officials say they are complying with the building management and are looking for a place to move the nursery.
However, parents of students who go to the nursery are in disbelief. About half the children who attend the nursery have special needs, according to educators.
The school says it will need at least a year to find a new location, and funds to move.
Warbasee has set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of $200K, and is accepting donations.
