A unique art project in Gowanus is causing many to do a double take.
A public art installation called Bridge of Flowers was created using secondhand Ralph Lauren shirts.
The unique pop of color was created by artist Carlton Scott Sturgill. Sturgill scoured thrift shops to find as many Ralph Lauren shirts as he could. He says it took 40 shirts to make the piece.
The project is a partnership between Sturgill, Arts Gowanus and the Department of Transportation's art program. The DOT funded the installation through a grant.
