A small exhibit at the Allerton Library Branch aims to inspire children in a big way.
At 89 years old, Marion Hughes has created an exhibit for children that inspires them to be creative.
"I want them to use their minds, their imaginations, and do some creating of their own/I want them to realize that around them are all kinds of scraps that they can use to make a world that they never thought that they would see," says Hughes.
The Space Objects and Robots exhibit at the New York Public Library Allerton branch is where Hughes says the creativity begins. She says it can also begin with the parents.
"Read to their children, help them to do things, like finger painting and using just paper and scissors and glue," she says.
Hughes hopes that her exhibit will maybe inspire children to get off the computer or iPad and pick up a crayon or paint brush.
The exhibit will be on display at the Allerton Library until June 5.
