(AP) - A 2-year-old boy and a cook have escaped from the Mumbai office of a Brooklyn-based ultra-orthodox Jewish group that was attacked overnight by gunmen.
Sandra Samuel says that 12 hours after the gunmen stormed the Chabad Lubavitch house, she heard the cries of a small child outside the room where she had sought refuge.
She says she opened the door, grabbed the boy and ran outside together with another worker at the center.
She later identified the boy as Moshe Holtzberg, the son of the main representative at Chabad house. The boy was unharmed, but his pants were soaked with blood.
Samuel says as she ran out she saw the boy's father, his wife and two other unidentified guests lying on the floor, apparently "unconscious."
By Thursday afternoon, dozens of Indian commandos were still surrounding the five-story building.
