Dozens of residents attended the Making Brooklyn Bloom event at Brooklyn Botanic Garden Saturday to learn about ?green? technology and possible job opportunities in environmentally friendly industries.
Some residents who attended the event say they are interested in ?green? technologies, like solar powered race cars and eco-friendly energy production, but feel uninformed about environmentally friendly businesses. Many hope that ?green collar? jobs will manifest as a result of the Obama Administration?s push toward eco-friendly industry.
One local business experiencing success at thinking ?green? is Havana Outpost, a Brooklyn eatery. The restaurant management says they purchase ingredients locally and buy honey and other products from the nearby bee keeper.
