BK residents upset by planned natural gas pipeline
Residents in one Brooklyn neighborhood are upset that Congress passed a bill that would allow a natural gas pipeline to run through Floyd Bennett Field and near their community garden. Mayor Michael Bloomberg says the pipeline will help bring clean energy to New York City. But community members are worried that constructing the pipeline and metering station will harm the environment and the garden they use to grow food. The pipeline will run through the Rockaways and Jamaica Bay in Queens, then through Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
