Bodegas across Brooklyn have now 'got milk' -- low-fat milk that is.
Some bodegas in the borough have teamed up with the city Department of Health to take part in a program aimed at helping residents lead a healthier lifestyle. The decision to carry 1 percent low-fat milk comes after statistics showed that obesity and diabetes rates were very high in Brooklyn and citywide. Health officials conducted a survey of stores throughout the city and found not enough bodegas carried low-fat milk.
Some of the bodegas are also carrying weight loss and exercise material from the health department.
