A Borough Park poultry store carries live turkeys for residents of Brooklyn who prefer a fresh, not frozen, Thanksgiving dinner.

Customers choose their selection from the live selection before workers at La Pera Poultry butcher and bag it.

Prices can reach as much as $3.45 a pound for the live turkeys, and La Pera expects to sell about 800 ahead of Thanksgiving.

"The best thing about coming to a live poultry market is not only seeing what you're eating, you're understanding that you're getting the freshest possible quality that there is," says store owner Carlo Formisano.
