The family of a former star athlete from Bridgeport who drowned in San Francisco is looking for answers about his death.
Emmanuel Omari, 25, was found dead in the waters of the San Francisco Bay. Omari was visiting friends in San Francisco last month when the tragedy happened.
Police say Omari's body was found in the San Francisco Bay last month, near a local marina where he had last been seen alive by a group of friends.
Omari was born in Bridgeport in 1994 and was a student at Central High School, where he was the captain of the football and lacrosse teams. Friends and family say he was one of the most popular students on campus.
His family says he went on to study at the UConn Center for Environmental Sciences and Engineering. He went on to become an investment analyst at JPMorgan.
“It had always given me comfort knowing that this guy is an achiever,” says Samuel Omari, his father.
The family is waiting for the San Francisco medical examiner to deliver the results of his autopsy. He was laid to rest Sunday, his family says.
Omari's father says he's heartbroken by the sudden death of his son.
“I wouldn't wish it on any human being, let alone any father at all,” says Samuel Omari.
