A Bronx man suffering from memory loss is using his computer as a lifeline.
John Barrella, 59, suffered a traumatic brain injury decades ago and says that poorly performed neurosurgeries have left him with lasting effects, including memory loss.
Barrella spends about a half-hour each day typing extensive computer notes on his daily activities into a special calendar program. He says he is able to talk about his life thanks to cognitive remediation therapy that he underwent 15 years ago.
Sandra Nohavicka, Barrella's social worker, says the therapy has helped him learn about his life.
