A Pelham Parkway food pantry is making sure struggling members of the Jewish community are not forgotten during Passover. The pantry, which is part of the Bronx Jewish Community Council (BJCC), serves about 2,500 people a month. But during Passover, volunteers say they plan to serve an additional 500 people. The BJCC offers cash relief, access to food stamps and other social services. Organizers say there are an estimated 10,000 poor Jewish people in The Bronx and that one in every three are senior citizens. The council also connects people to community Seders if they would otherwise be alone.
