The Bronx Week celebration, a tradition that goes back over 40 years, kicks off on Monday, going through May 21.
Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson says this will be a Bronx Week to remember, with different events celebrating the Bronx culture from parades, live music, and the induction of five new members to the Bronx Walk of Fame.
One of the five inductees, principal Luis Torres of C.S. 55, is being recognized due to being a trailblazer in the local community and a difference maker in education.
“This feels amazing because I was just doing what I love, not to be recognized,” said Torres. “We still have a lot of work to do in the Bronx with the resources schools need. And we’re get there pushing forward!”
