A group of toddlers today practiced speaking Swahili as part of the Brooklyn Children Museum's Kwanzaa celebration.
"It means an affirmation of our African-American identity and it's a way to extend the holiday season past Christmas, so it's practical," says Eisa Ulen Richardson, who took part in the celebration.
The Kwanzaa celebration is part of a multicultural holiday series at the museum in which children also learn about holidays such as Hanukkah and Christmas.
