Brooklyn's Historical Society opened a second location Thursday on Water Street in Dumbo for history buffs, visitors and tourists.
Officials say they hope the new waterfront location will encourage people to learn more about the borough.
It sits inside the Empire Stores complex at 55 Water St. and features an art exhibition showcasing photographs of Brooklyn's waterfront over time.
And the photographs include educational materials.
In one display about the 19th century, visitors will learn that the waterfront stretch between Dumbo and Red Hook was a hub for transferring coffee, cotton and sugar.
The Brooklyn Historical Society is open seven days a week and will have extended hours on Fridays all summer long.
