A Brooklyn man who is one of the faces of the city's new gender-identification campaign spoke with News 12 about what it means to share his personal message of acceptance with millions of New Yorkers.

Charlie Solidum, 30, says having his face on display for millions was the last thing he'd ever expect to see in his lifetime. A transgender man living in Ditmas Park, Solidum is one of two people featured on hundreds of ads that affirm every New Yorker has the legal right to use the bathroom consistent with their gender identity.

Humbled, Solidum says he hopes the campaign will bring about a greater understanding of the transgender community.

Aside from subways, the ads can also be seen at bus shelters and on social media.
