A Brooklyn mixed martial arts school is encouraging women to take their safety into their own hands by learning vital self-defense techniques during an 8-week program.
Terry Gold, the owner of Brooklyn MMA in Flatlands, says the best way for women to feel comfortable is with world class female instructor Sepi Melamed.
Melamed began taking martial arts classes more than 15 years ago after a man tried to kidnap her and her newborn son.
Melamed is not only a self-defense Krav Maga expert, she trains in Brazilian Jiu Jistu, boxing and kickboxing. She has now teamed up with Gold, and their goal is to empower other women to learn to protect themselves through using Krav Maga techniques to get out of immediate danger.
The first class starts Sunday Jan. 5 at 11 a.m.
