The Brooklyn Navy Yard is now in the same category as New York City staples like the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty.
The industrial mega-house and popular museum has been added to the National Register of Historic Places and is being recognized as a historic district.
Built back in 1801, the iconic Navy Yard is the city's oldest and largest shipyard, generating countless jobs over the years.
Officials say the award will help reactivate the 300-acre yard. More than 40 buildings are now eligible to receive historic tax credits for renovations.
