A new Brooklyn principal at P.S. 169 has allegedly banned students and staff members from celebrating Christmas and other holidays. 

The New York Post says principal Eujin Jaela Kim told parents the word "Christmas" cannot be said inside school and images such as Santa, snowflakes, angels or even stars which could represent the Star of David are prohibited.

According to the Post, the assistant principal sent out a memo last month which suggested having a harvest festival rather than a Thanksgiving harvest. 

The memo also suggested a winter celebration rather than a Christmas party. 

The intention is said to be mindful of the diversity of students and that some may not celebrate certain holidays. Another item the principal wants to get rid of is saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
