You have a chance to help the city celebrate history. 

The Brooklyn Public Library will be releasing a limited-edition library card to celebrate Black American Culture. They have a contest going for artists looking to design the card. 

This all started when a member of the Community Board 3, Wendy Robinson, visited the Macon Library in Brooklyn and saw the African American Heritage Center there. 

She wanted more people to be aware of the space so she came up with a creative contest for people to design a library card that will be revealed as part of Brooklyn Public Library's Juneteenth 2021 celebrations. 

"My hope is that this will attract more people to the library. I know a couple of people on my block actually said, 'Oh, when the card comes out, I think I am going to go get the library card, but I haven't been there in years,” said Robinson. 

Artists have until the end of January to submit their ideas. The winner gets a $2,000 stipend. 

So far, they have over 170 submissions.
