Brooklyn is ranked near the top of the list of the most expensive urban places to live by the Council for Community and Economic Research. The Council measures the cost of living nationwide by comparing prices in more than 300 cities. Three of New York City's boroughs ranked in the top six, with Brooklyn coming in at number two. The study cited housing costs as the main reason for Brooklyn's high cost of living.
