A relatively mild winter may have led some people to believe that the start of spring would be warm, but it wasn't meant to be.
In Canarsie, people bundled up in winter coats on the first day of spring on Sunday. The day's low temperature hovered around 32 degrees, and snow began to fall Sunday evening.
Residents took it in stride, with one man saying he was headed home to find the shovel that he thought he was done with for the season.
About 1 to 3 inches of snowfall is expected.
