Brooklyn runner seeks 2nd Olympic gold
Brooklyn native Justin Gatlin, who won a 2004 Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter dash before doping scandals derailed his career, is looking to make a comeback.
The 34-year-old from Sheepshead Bay had been banned twice for doping, which cost him years of competitions during his prime.
Now, he says he's aiming to take the top spot in this year's games in Rio.
Supporters and fans held a rally in his honor outside City Hall Monday. He spoke with children who attended about healthy eating and other preparations for races, like what music he plays.
Gatlin says he wants to be a role model for his 6-year-old son and other young track-and-field athletes.
