Black Friday shoppers at Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn were surprised to find shorter lines and shorter wait times to get some of the best deals this year.
That is because more and more retail stores were open on Thanksgiving. Many stores remained open through the night, only closing around 2 a.m. and reopening at 6 a.m. Friday morning.
Some retail workers say they were busiest on Thursday night.
The National Retail Federation says that last year's sales on Black Friday were down compared to previous years, and it's a trend they expect to continue.
