Students across Brooklyn took part in a ?living history? lesson Tuesday as they watched the nation?s first African-American president take office.
At P.S./I.S. 323, the students say watching the inauguration and its historical significance was a welcome respite from the stressful state English exam they will take beginning Wednesday.
?When I saw [President] Barack Obama sworn in I thought, ?Wow, we've really come a long way since slavery,? ? says one student.
Students arrived at the school early Tuesday morning, gathering around television sets. They then watched Barack Obama become the 44th president of the United States.
