A tribute Thursday at the Korean War Veterans Plaza in Downtown Brooklyn honored those who fought in that conflict.
Prisco DeAngelis, 86, was one of 25 Korean War veterans honored at the event, which included music and speeches.
At 19 years old, DeAngelis left his childhood home in Red Hook to fight in the war in which the U.S. and allied nations fought for three years against North Korea and the spread of communism.
Many veterans say that while being honored feels good, they were present on behalf of their comrades who did not make it home.
Donald Feldman, who also fought in Korea, says he doesn't need the fame but the honor does make him happy.
